This week’s featured build displays many creative and unique interior uses of Charwood™ Ebony throughout the entire home. The white walls, a theme throughout most of the home, creates a strong contrast with the Charwood™, resulting in a beautiful clash between modern and traditional design.

The mixed dimension, mixed Circle Sawn and Wire Brushed texture, Charwood™ Ebony backdrop (above) creates an absolute depth not commonly seen. To compliment it, the same material was used for the cabinetry and trim throughout the bathroom.

This week’s featured project is a beautiful Mountain Rustic Architectural Design home with a focus on structural and decorative Timbers. Structural and decorative rustic Timbers are the pediments and gables of the West. Pediments and gables are typical elements found in classical, neoclassical and baroque architecture. This week’s project follows last week’s project in Driggs, Idaho, featuring a second home in a four home development. This Mountain Rustic home features a combination of cedar shakes, hewed stainless steel paneling, stone, and Montana Timber Products’ ranchwood™, rustic reclaimed barn wood alternative. Montana Timber Products’ comprehensive offering of reclaimed barn wood and reclaimed barn wood alternatives gave the designer of this four home project many options to make each one its own unique mountain rustic design.

This build utilizes Montana Timber Products’ ranchwood™ rustic reclaimed barn wood alternative siding and trim. The ranchwood™ product line features eight standard color options. However, all material is made to order and fully customizable. Variations of color tones can made to your preference.

The varying milling practices used at different points in time determined the various textures that are seen in traditional rustic reclaimed barn wood. Faux Beam Wraps built with Ranchwood!

This home is located in the heart of downtown McCall, Idaho.  The architect recommended Ranchwood as the best solution to mix the Craftsman design with a bit of rustic flare. 

The homeowners of this residence wanted to maintain a Craftsman design while integrating flooring and faux beam options to add a little rustic flavor.  The six color options of Ranchwood provided excellent options to finish the interior design of their home.  MTP Representative , Marty Melander, met with the contractor and architect to work on color selections, coordinated the installation and  delivery to the project.

Vertical Beam Wrap

Exterior and interior beam options often take the place of appearance grade timbers.  A lower cost solution; these wraps require excellent craftsmanship by contractors to ensure the corners are mitered correctly.  Also, it’s important for the wood to acclimate at the interior temperature prior to installation.  Either crafted by Montana Timber Products or by our customers, these continue to be nice options which add to the rustic décor.

Marty continues to work well with local contractors, architects, and new dealers of Ranchwood to educate on the various benefits of the product lines.  The homeowners were pretty excited to finish this remodel project off and start enjoying their place near Payette Lake in McCall.

Our latest project takes us back to an age when building a home was a communal effort and was expected to be your home for life. Harvesting and milling structural timbers and beams required the use of various types of axes. Trees were cut, and with nothing more than brawn and a blade, were hand hewn until square enough to provide structural integrity. Traditional hand hewn beams are a rarity these days; Fortunately, Montana Timber Products’ ranchwood™,  Pioneer series timbers and barn board can provide you the comfort and nostalgia inducing authenticity you desire for your own homestead.

A close up of the hand hewn and Pioneer siding gives you a better look at its rustic texture and appearance. Channel Rustic siding is a great choice for multiple styles of builds. This project chose to use chinking, but many people opt to leave the “reveal” of the channel. One can always build with channel and add the chinking at a later date for a more traditional look and additional insulation.
