The client wanted the look of older hand textured wood with all of the benefits of using a new wood substrate. Our ranchwood™ Artisan was the perfect solution. For this house, the client selected our prefinished Dusk color and pioneer texture.
Our Pioneer texture is a heavily stressed hand hewn look with random cuts and adze markings.

Product Use: Silvertip horizontal siding 1×10 shiplap and vertical siding is 1×10 and 1×6 board and batten. The AquaFir™ black trim package: 2×12 belly band, 2×10 garage trim, 2×8 and 2×6 fascia, 2×4 corner, window, and door trim.

Building at high elevations in the fall can create challenges. Early freezes, rain, and morning dew can all create wet conditions making it difficult to schedule exterior painting or staining. Pre-finished wood created in a controlled environment eliminates the peeling and cracking of paint and stain that was applied in poor weather conditions. Ideal painting weather is 50-85 degrees with little wind and humidity. Most stains and paint are formulated to dry, ideally not in weather below 32 degrees, which creates longer drying times and more potential for problems.

Product: Cedar in 1×3 battens with 1×12, 1×6 and 1×8 boards. Trim in 2×6, 2×8 and 2×10. All in a custom color.
This project required almost 22,000 board feet of cedar replacing unsealed 23-year-old siding. The remodel which started late August and went into a very rainy fall was not a problem. By purchasing pre-finished siding, weather did not create delays and insured the boards were sealed in a controlled environment to avoid repeating the prior mistake of putting up untreated product. Seal-once is a low VOC product, enabling the facility to remain open due to no harsh chemicals. Environmentally safe Seal-Once did not harm the landscaping or put the staff and patrons in harm’s way. Coordinating large remodels usually require many different skillsets to be on site, when using a pre-finished ready to install product, only one set of sub-contractors are required.
