THE SOLUTION

The property ended up including multiple structures. While each structure has its own individual use, the use of our natural wood materials throughout multiple applications tied the design of all the buildings together.

THE VISION

Dylan Chatwin of Chatwin Homes and Delia Chatwin from The Lifestyle Collective envisioned a project that serves as “a love letter to those who care and are passionate about quality build and design.” Stonewood, a project close to their hearts, aimed not only to present a signature property in the Park City Showcase but also to showcase their distinctive design aesthetic. – Organic Earth.

THE SOLUTION

Walking through Stonewood, the goal was for visitors to sense the genuine love and meticulous care infused into every aspect of the home. To realize this aesthetic, the project incorporated materials with neutral tones, warm organic palettes, and abundant texture.

Intentionally using travertine stone, concrete, and wood throughout the property brought the essence of the outdoors inside. The selection of AquaFir™ in various shades, particularly the dramatic AquaFir Black cladding in the dining room, added a unique touch, complementing the overall design and encouraging occupants to appreciate the natural beauty surrounding the space.

Stonewood stands as a 10,221-square-foot masterpiece, showcasing the seamless integration of AquaFir™ into its design.

Products:  Aquafir™ product line for siding and trim in brown color with wire-brushed texture, all kiln-dried Douglas fir substrate.

Product Use:  Siding is 1×6 horizontal shiplap throughout the exterior.  Windows and doors are trimmed with 1×4, 1×6, 2×4 and 2×6 materials.  The garage doors are lined with custom milled 1×6.5” net width boards.

Product Use:  A combination of 1×3, 1×4, 2×3, 3×3 and 4×4 siding all in square edge profile.

A distinctive aesthetic was implemented for the exterior cladding of this Oklahoma City residence.  Overlaid square edge boards make up a grid pattern on the lower half of the home which is juxtaposed with the upper half clad in corrugated metal.  MTP customize milled all boards to the exact design specifications.

Product Use:  1×6 shiplap with 1/8” reveal vertical siding.  1×8 shiplap with 1/8” reveal for garage doors. Soffit and overhang ceilings are 1×6 tongue and groove material.  1×8 fascia, 2×4, 2×6 window trim,  2×8 door and corner trim.  Timbers 8×8, 3×4 and 4×4, all for the front entry.

AquaFir™ is offered in 3 textures: smooth, wire brush and circle sawn, each offer a different look and change the appearance to personalize the project.  Along with different textures and profiles, you can customize your wood species, with douglas fir or cedar. All of our product lines can be used for siding, timbers, trusses, posts, beams, decks, siding, trim, fascia, soffit, interior paneling/ceiling,, etc…

In extreme climates, acclimation and installation are crucial. Montana Timber Products helps by stabilizing any board wider than 6″ by doing relief cuts. Relief cuts (kerf cuts) are milled on the back of the siding and create air circulation.  In addition to relief cuts, Montana Timber Products uses SEAL-ONCE® to seal the entire board in a controlled environment to protect the wood from water damage.  Ask your sales representative for guidance to find what grade of wood and species best fit your needs.

Products:  ranchwood™ product line in Northern and Tackroom colors for siding in douglas fir wood.
Product Use:  1×6 shiplap siding and patio ceiling in circle sawn and smooth texture with 1×4 trim in smooth. The mixture is 60% tackroom in smooth, 20% circle sawn in northern and tackroom, and 20% in northern smooth texture.

Design and location are key in the retail brick and mortar space.  The architect’s creative design choices in mixing color and texture made for a warm welcoming space.  A pop of color and interest keep the space inviting all while keeping long term maintenance in mind.  The covered entry gives a warm aesthetic and invite customers to hang around.

Product Use:  Silvertip horizontal siding 1×10 shiplap and vertical siding is 1×10 and 1×6 board and batten.  The AquaFir™ black trim package: 2×12 belly band, 2×10 garage trim, 2×8 and 2×6 fascia, 2×4 corner, window, and door trim.

The use of wood with stone have been used in architecture since the beginning of time.  They create a refined look of sustainability.  This organic aesthetic creates a luxurious home with clean lines.  Wood and stone both come from the earth, giving a look of belonging.  Natural materials provide variation in the look and that mimics nature.  The use of two siding profiles (vertical board and batten and horizontal shiplap) creates interest and depth to the look.  The charred wood and black trim are complimented with the brown soffit, timbers, and rafter tails to warm up the overall look.
