One of our latest projects takes us back to Montana to the beautiful mountain town of Whitefish. This build utilizes Montana Timber Products ranchwood™ product line to create a very unique fusion between traditional mountain rustic and the southwestern stucco style one would find in Arizona and New Mexico.

The aesthetic 1×6 sheathing, 3×8 rafters, 1×6 deck railing, and Barn Series timbers all feature the rustic circle sawn texture offered in the Montana Timber Products line.

The deck railing provides a detailed perspective of the circle sawn texture, replicating primitive milling processes. The Montana Timber Products ranchwood™, AquaFir™, and  ranchwood™-weathered product lines are an excellent reclaimed barn wood alternative. Each product line offers color and texture choice, and are cut to order, resulting in a 5-10% waste factor compared to 35-40% with reclaimed.

Similar to the roof sheathing, the half inch spaced soffit pictured above contrasts nicely with the 1×8 vertical ship lap. All Montana Timber Products’ prefinished wood siding utilizes Seal-Once, a 100% NO VOC waterproofer with a 10 year limited warranty against water ingress.

This barn nestled in the heart of the Montana’s Flathead Valley was designed specifically to board multiple horses.  The owner desired a new yet rustic product which was milled in various dimension, textured to raise the wood’s grain and increase the materials aesthetic appearance.

Mountain Barn-ranchwood

Montana Timber Products ranchwood Tackroom and Western Exposure colors were the product of choice for the contractor and owner of this new barn with living quarters in Bozeman, Montana

1×10 and 1×3 board and batten-Tackroom, 1×6 shiplap soffit and 2×6/2×8 window trim Western Exposure

A combination of ranchwood  Tackroom (brown) and Western Exposure (grey) were used to offset color tone for the siding, trim and soffit material of this exterior.  The colors integrated well with the stone and window selection chosen for the barn.

 

Montana Timber Products ranchwood products are prefinished with Seal-Once. Seal Once is a NO VOC, NON TOXIC, waterproofer which is safe for use around animals, has a 10 year warranty against water ingress, and has UV inhibitors which extend UV life.  A water based product, the reapplication of Seal Once is easier and safer than other coating alternatives which may be considered.

ranchwood products are commonly used for interior accent applications such as interior and exterior doors, ceiling and wall panel material, and wainscoting.  Pictured here, ranchwood was utilized for both the exterior and interior door to compliment the design of the home.
