THE VISION

The homeowners wanted to create a rustic Craftsman-style home that embraced natural wood materials with a focus on the authentic character of circle-sawn wood.

THE SOLUTION

To capture the essence of the Craftsman style, Western Red Cedar with a circle-sawn texture was used throughout. Horizontal ranchwood™ Tackroom shiplap was combined with vertical AquaFir™ Battleship board and batten, creating the hallmark mix of textures and profiles typical of the Craftsman aesthetic. Circle-sawn cedar was featured in the fascia, trim, and ceilings, maintaining the rustic texture central to the design.

Design Considerations

  • Craftsman Design Elements: The combination of horizontal and vertical cedar siding, along with exposed cedar trim and fascia, reflected the classic Craftsman emphasis on authentic natural materials.
  • Western Red Cedar: STK Cedar was chosen for its durability in Iowa’s climate and its ability to complement the rustic, handcrafted design while offering long-lasting performance.

Arts District West is a modern urban development of ten luxury condominiums and mixed-use spaces draws on a striking aesthetic contrast between light and dark wood tones, offering both visual depth and connection to the regional landscape.

The Solution

Ranchwood™ Artisan in Glacier Grey was chosen for its weathered, rustic character, blending seamlessly with the mountain environment. The darker Charwood™ Midnight adds a bold, modern contrast, delivering a dynamic interplay between tones and textures.

Design Considerations

The design team prioritized material selections that would complement the rugged natural surroundings of Jackson while achieving a sophisticated finish. The cool Glacier Grey and deep Midnight tones provide a durable and refined exterior suited for the alpine environment.

Fire Treatment

The Vision

This luxury hotel, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, was designed to fuse mountain serenity with Jackson’s western heritage. The design demanded a refined exterior that met both aesthetic and safety criteria.

The Solution

MTP’s Fireline protection was utilized to provide an elegant, eye-catching exterior that not only looks stunning but also meets fire safety precautions. There are two distinct siding elements that were created specifically for this project to meet the inspired aesthetic vision.

Design Considerations

Balancing fire safety with architectural beauty was paramount. The combination of Charwood™ and ranchwood™ Artisan delivers a design that reflects the rustic charm of Jackson Hole, while maintaining the luxury standards expected from a world-class hotel.

The interplay of Hazelnut and Brown enhances the architecture, grounding the design in its natural surroundings.  All exposed materials including siding, trim, fascia and timbers were expertly milled and prefinished by MTP to the exact specifications required by the project team.

The Vision

This custom resort style estate was visualized as the ultra-spacious and accommodating family vacation compound. The design vision incorporates expansive lake views and large outdoor indoor/outdoor spaces, to create a fusion of luxury with contemporary modern features and rustic natural wood. The ranchwood™ Artisan materials reflect the home’s sophisticated character while enhancing its picturesque lakeside setting.

The Solution

To achieve this design motif the project intentionally utilized Douglas Fir with custom finishes. The Artisan Circle Sawn and Artisan Raked textures, provided the perfect balance between classic charm and contemporary design. Tight shiplap profile on both exterior walls and interior ceilings creates a high-end appearance that complements the layout of the home.

Design Considerations

  • Customization: Custom colors and textures were purposefully selected to align with the design vision.
  • Durability: Montana Timber Products pre-finishes all sides of each board and includes relief cuts to help reduce movement.  The result is a premium long lasting natural wood material.

THE VISION

Dylan Chatwin of Chatwin Homes and Delia Chatwin from The Lifestyle Collective envisioned a project that serves as “a love letter to those who care and are passionate about quality build and design.” Stonewood, a project close to their hearts, aimed not only to present a signature property in the Park City Showcase but also to showcase their distinctive design aesthetic. – Organic Earth.

THE SOLUTION

Walking through Stonewood, the goal was for visitors to sense the genuine love and meticulous care infused into every aspect of the home. To realize this aesthetic, the project incorporated materials with neutral tones, warm organic palettes, and abundant texture.

Intentionally using travertine stone, concrete, and wood throughout the property brought the essence of the outdoors inside. The selection of AquaFir™ in various shades, particularly the dramatic AquaFir Black cladding in the dining room, added a unique touch, complementing the overall design and encouraging occupants to appreciate the natural beauty surrounding the space.

Stonewood stands as a 10,221-square-foot masterpiece, showcasing the seamless integration of AquaFir™ into its design.
